The reporting of the development since 2007 is, negatively, influenced by the methods of reporting on elements like the transportation and the electricity area, but the accumulated CO2-reduction is still, unchanged, 35% while the energy consumption has been reduced by 13,6% since 2007.
”I am happy that the energy consumption keeps decreasing and, more or less, follows targeted CO2-reductions. With many of the ongoing projects we now focus on phasing in sustainable energy in both electricity, gas and district heating” says the mayor of Sonderborg, and vice chairman of the ProjectZero-fond, Erik Lauritzen.
The first steps have been made in setting up the new Better Energy PV-park located in Glansager, located in the Sonderborg area. The Nature Energy biogas plant in Granslager and the Sonderborg utility district heating project in Nordborg are both about to be ready for implementation and the environmental investigations and assessments regarding the windmill park in lillebaelt south is working on schedule.
Adjustment of Justering af the calculation methods
The idea behind the monitoring report of ProjectZero is to account for the past year’s energy consumption, convert it to CO2 and analyze deviations. With the purpose of creating a more correct calculation on the transport area, reduce the dependency on scaled-down usage data in the field of transport and ensure compliance with national accounting principles, ProjectZero has in this year’s monitoring adjusted its methods.
“The purpose of the adjustments is to improve the methods, so that the energy consumption and CO2-reductions are calculated more precisely in accordance with applicable principles. The adjustments include oil consumption in the industry and transportation along with an alteration of the utilized CO2-factor regarding imported electricity. Hereby the double accounting for electricity produced by sun and wind is closed” Peter, CEO of ProjectZero explains.
The monitoring report is validated by Viegand &Maagøe, consulting engineers and experts in CO2-monitoring.
Roadmap 2025 is to show the way to reducing CO2-emissions by 75% in 2025.
Ongoing energy efficiency and green transportation based on the inhabitants of the area, corporations along with sustainable energy make up the core values of ProjectZero. Roadmap 2025 is under development. More than 100 local actors and eksperts are organized into 8 lines of action have since May worked on formulating the approximately 40 projects that are to ensure improvement and realize the intermidiate target of a 75% CO2-reduction in 2025.
The Roadmap 2025 report is an actionplan that is expected to be presented for the Sonderborg city council by the end of 2018 with focus on integrating it into the municipality plan.
