Requirement for a new EIA report
At the same time, the project's EIA permit and environmental approval have been revoked by the Environment and Food Complaints Board, which last week ruled in favor of one (out of 10) complaints concerning the load on Kværsløkkebæk. As a consequence of this, the Planning Appeals Board has at the same time revoked the municipality's decision on expropriation for the construction of a road connection to the biogas plant.
In the near future, Nature Energy will account for how the requirements in the environmental approval and EIA permit are complied with in the future for the biogas plant in Kværs.
Green gas is an important part of the energy system of the future
Biogas plants are a climate-efficient and environmentally friendly way to convert local livestock manure, slaughterhouse waste and sorted food waste into the green gas of the future. Biogas is one of the most important tools when agriculture must actively participate in climate change, as the plant, in addition to producing biogas, also reduces methane emissions from agriculture and the open country.
The two biogas plants in Glansager and Kværs are therefore both important climate actions with a view to realizing Sonderborg's ProjectZero vision of a CO2-neutral Sonderborg area in 2029 and - according to the Roadmap2025 plan - the biogas plants in Sonderborg must be able to receive up to 1.4 annually. mio. tonnes of biomass, which in the plants is converted into 48 million m3 of bionatural gas - the green fuel of the future for the city buses, the brickworks, the heavy transport, new Power-to-X solutions, etc.
